Meet Dr. Laura Cardenas

Dr. Laura Cardenas was born and raised in Colombia, South America. She attended dental school at Instituto de la Salud CES. For her last semester of dental school, she was chosen by the Dean of the dental school to study oral medicine, oral surgery, and periodontics at the University of Gothemburg in Sweden.

Dr. Cardenas did her specialty training at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she received a Certificate in Periodontics. She then moved to Washington where she has been practicing Periodontics since.​

Dr. Cardenas is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology , a diplomate is a periodontist who has made a significant achievement beyond mandatory educational requirements of the specialty and certified by the American Board of Periodontology.

Dr. Cardenas is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Association , Washington State Dental Association, and Kitsap County Dental Society. 

Dr. Cardenas works with the top technology in the periodontal field during surgical and nonsurgical treatments.  Whether she is performing microsurgery, reviewing CBCTs or planning a computer generated surgical guide, Dr. Cardenas stays on top of industry technology and procedures through the Spear Education Study Club that she manages and attends monthly. Dr. Laura has also been elected to participate in the Spear Master's Program and was the winning practice for the PRD Competition that entailed innovative strategies and training with referring dentists.

Throughout the year, Dr. Cardenas helps the communities she works with by supporting local food banks, schools and various community needs.  Dr. Cardenas enjoys spending time with her family, running, and baking.  During the season, you can find Dr. Cardenas rooting for FEDERACIÓN COLOMBIANA DE FÚTBOL, the Colombian Soccer Team!
